What's an Unconference?
An unconference is an event spontaneously organized by the participants themselves on the spot. This means that attendees themselves will be responsible to propose talks, vote for talks, present, share, question, inquire and otherwise make the event. This wiki page is here so that attendees of OXID Unconference can share notes, ideas for sessions and other content related to the event.
You can learn more about how an Unconference works in the article Understanding the Unconference.
How to Participate
OXID Unconference is entirely free but requires pre-registration by adding yourself to the list of attendees.
Location
OXID Unconference will take place in Freiburg, Germany. The exact venue will be announced once we have a good idea about how many of us will attend.
Schedule
The Unconference will happen at Friday, May 7th, 2010, from 10am to 16am CET.

| Title | Speaker | Abstract |
| Development Process - Bugs vs. Features | Ralf Trapp | Ralf Trapp, Head of Development OXID eSales AG, explains the development process for OXID eShop so that third-party developers can better coordinate their efforts and cooperate with us on enhancing the eShop eCommerce system. He will talk about the criteria for decision-making of the development roadmap, how to mingle with issues and steakholders, the development phases and how the releases are being managed. |
| Agile Development and Unit Testing | Erik Kort | In this session, Erik Kort (Chief Software Architekt at OXID eSales AG) will talk about the goals, tools, risks and the lessons learned when OXID completely switched the development process to Extreme Programming (XP). When OXID eSales decided in early 2008 to open source its then 5 years old ecommerce system, they knew that it needed to be refactored before releasing it to the public. The reason being that only a refactored system would allow for shorter release cycles and attract new developers due to higher code quality. |
| Technology Trends | Which new web technologies do OXID and it's Community see as critical to the evolution of the OXID system ? For example, will the explosion of Social Networking platforms and tools impact consumer expectations for web shop capabilities & features. Are these technologies really relevant to us or just hype ? Taking these trends plus the status of the current platform and the competitive landscape into consideration, what do we believe should be the technology vision for the OXID system over the next 5 years ? | |
| OXID Update Process | Discussion about updates in context with downward compatibility, handling of critical security vulnerabilities...
