Language files for OXID eShop contributed by the community can be downloaded from OXIDprojects.

Installation

1. Unzip the file you downloaded. You will find the following structure for the language files:

If there is a file missing, it means that it is not translated or uploaded yet.

2. Copy the contents of the folder /out/ to the same folder as your OXID eShop installation.

3. In the admin panel of your OXID eShop installation, go to Master Settings -> Languages and create a new language for the files you downloaded. At a minimum to activate this language in the frontend, enter the abbreviation (e.g. "es" for Spanish) and the name of the language.

From Version 4.5.0 on: 4. In the admin panel, go to Service -> Tools and press the button "Update DB Views now".

5. In your download package, you will find another file called 'transliteration_list'. Open this file in any text editor, copy its contents and paste it into the admin panel under Master Settings -> Core Settings -> SEO in the field 'Characters which are replaced in SEO URLs'.

Creating a New Language File

You are welcome to contribute your translations, partial translations and/or corrections to the community. If you feel familiar with using SVN, please register to the language project on OXIDprojects to be able to commit to its SVN repository. If you don't know what SVN is, please send your translation to .

If you post a link to your translation file to the forum , you will probably quickly find help from other community members.

Maintaining Existing Language Files

If you determine a missing translation in an existing language, please feel free to commit it to the SVN of the Languages project. If you don't know how to work with SVN, please send your translation by e-mail to , we'll do the SVN job for you ;)

Guidelines for Contributions

  • Please commit translations in a proper folder hierarchy, like the ones you'll find in the repository (as zipped files when e-mailed)
  • Please provide a transliteration list as well (for languages with non-plain Latin characters)
  • The language flag for /out/basic/img/lang/ should be 18x13 px
  • The language flag for /out/azure/img/lang/ should be 14x10 px

All contributions will be published under GPLv3. Please feel free to leave your name, nickname and/or website in the header of each file.
