Collaboration Platform for Developing OXID Extensions

We are happy to announce the immediate availability of our web-based project management and collaboration platform for developers of Open Source extensions for OXID eShop. It provides useful tools for extensions development projects, such as SVN, task management and more. Feel free to register your project to start developing for OXID eShop. The only criteria is that it must be under an Open Source license. We are still looking for a name for the collaboration platform. Find more information in the Weblog announcing the platform for developing OXID extensions.

New features with the major release 4.2.0 of OXID eShop

New features and bug fixes were introduced to all editions of version 4.2.0 of OXID eShop. The highlights are: multidimensional variants, Application Packaging Standard (APS), template override system, simplified language management in admin area. The new template override system and the changed language management will make developers' lives much easier. Read the whole story and where to get the updates in the blog post announcing the 4.2.0 release.

Security Bulletin 2009-004

During one of our regular security audits we found a security issue that had to be resolved immediately with the release of version 4.1.6. By sending specially crafted SQL statements, unauthorized users may have gained access to sensitive information stored in the database. No exploits are known as of today. See the Security Bulletin 2009-004 for more information. In case you are unsure if your version is affected, please turn to the OXID Community Forums.

Single signon for forums, eXchange and OXIDforge

The login procedures for the above systems are synchronizing from now on. That means that you can login with the same user name and password. If you have different user names for those applications, you probably already received an e-mail from us with detailed information and instructions.

Public feature request tool - your voice is welcome!

For gathering feature requests, we set up a web-based tool to collect and discuss all the good ideas from the community to make OXID eShop even better. Go and vote for the feature you want most! Before voting, we ask that you read the blog post with information about posting feature requests.

Portuguese translation available for OXID eShop frontend

Thanks to our new community member, monteiro, Portuguese is now available for the shop frontend. Just generate a new file /pt/lang.php and copy the code on the language site of OXIDforge. Then, simply generate a new entry for Portuguese in the admin area of your OXID eShop. Thanks monteiro for this great contribution! Find the Portuguese language file in the OXIDforge Wiki.

List of OXID eShop references on Mister Wong

Community member musicgate had a great idea: He opened up a group on the social bookmarking tool Mister Wong where everyone can post OXID eShop reference sites.

Zend Framework Preliminary Report

We have finished our first round of evaluating Zend Framework for inclusion in OXID eShop with a spike solution. A new round will start soon. As expected, we have some insights and also some more questions have arisen. Read our summary of what we found concerning Zend Framework and OXID eShop.

Find the source code of the Zend Framework spike solution in our SVN repository.

Partner Day

This year's Partner Day was a tremendous event with energizing conversations, exciting announcements and valuable information for both OXID and its partners. The event clearly showed that by going open source, our business ecosystem has grown rapidly. Read more about it in the related blog post Commercial Open Source in Full Swing.
